The largest island in the Caribbean is known for its beautiful beaches, friendly people, rich culture and wonderful music. In recent years, this longtime-favourite vacation spot for Canadians has faced more challenges than usual with its tourism infrastructure and economy. Shortages of certain foods and supplies, and power outages have been more common.

Feedback from our agents and clients from Winter 2025 has been more positive than in the last few years for certain resorts.  The following list of resorts are ones that our agents have stayed at themselves recently or are ones where many of their clients have stayed with good results.

CAYO SANTA MARIA

A small island off Cuba’s northern coast, Cayo Santa Maria is part of the Jardines del Rey archipelago. Known for its pristine white-sand beaches and turquoise waters, it’s  connected to the mainland by a 48-km causeway across the sea. With its calm Caribbean waters, low-key atmosphere, and all-inclusive resorts, Cayo Santa Maria is especially appealing for beach lovers, couples, and those seeking a quiet getaway surrounded by natural beauty.

VARADERO

Stretching along a 20-km peninsula of powdery white sand on the island’s north Coast, Varadero is Cuba’s most famous beach resort town. Just two hours from Havana, it offers a wide range of all-inclusive resorts, golf, water sports, lively nightlife, and excursions to nearby caves and nature reserves.

HOLGUIN

Centered around Guardalavaca, Playa Esmeralda and Playa Pesquero, Hoguin is known for its smaller more intimate beaches, often framed by cliffs, coves and lush greenery. Less touristy than Varadero, Holguin offers visitors an authentic Cuban vibe, along with resort-style relaxation and opportunities for eco-adventure.

Part of Cuba’s Jardines del Rey archipelago, Cayo Coco and Cayo Cruz are known for their white-sand beaches, turquoise waters and modern all-inclusive resorts. Famous for its long beaches and family friendly resorts, Cayo Coco is larger and well-established, while Cayo Cruz is newer and quieter, offering fewer hotels and a more secluded atmosphere.
