An Interview With Leana Anderson
How many years have you been selling travel?
Travel has been a passion of mine since I was a teenager. I’ve always loved geography, planning trips, and learning about and exploring new places. With family in New York and frequent visits there growing up, I fell in love with travel early on and knew it was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I even took tourism courses in high school, which confirmed that this was the career path for me.
I have now been in the travel industry since 2001, with experience across a number of areas including corporate and leisure travel, after-hours emergency assistance, regional training, and marketing. What I love most is that it never truly feels like work when you get to do something you’re passionate about every day.
What are your hobbies?
Travelling is definitely at the top of the list — both personally and professionally. I love experiencing new destinations, cultures, and cuisines, and I’m always looking for my next adventure. Outside of travel, music and photography are two of my biggest passions. I enjoy capturing moments and scenery from my travels, especially the little details that make each place unique.
I also really value spending quality time with friends and family, whether that’s hosting dinners, exploring somewhere new together, or simply enjoying good conversation. Trying new foods and discovering local restaurants is another favorite hobby of mine — I believe food is such an important part of experiencing a destination and connecting with different cultures.
What type of resort activities do you favor? ie water sports, lounging by the pool, etc?
For me, the perfect resort vacation is a balance of relaxation and exploration. There’s nothing better than lying on the beach with a good book and truly unwinding, but I also love getting out to experience the destination itself. Whether it’s exploring the local culture, trying new restaurants, visiting nearby towns, or discovering hidden gems, I always enjoy seeing more of the area beyond the resort.
What are your favorite destinations?
There are so many....how to narrow them down.... well the South Pacific, and there are so many places in Europe....Barcelona is amazing but Italy is #1 in my heart as I am Italian
What languages do you speak?
English is the only language I am fluent in.
