An Interview With Jason Thomas
How many years have you been selling travel?
I joined Maritime Travel in 2023. I had previously sold cruises from 2017-2020.
What are your hobbies?
I am an avid iPhone photographer, with a particularly interest in architecture and travel. When not helping clients realize their travel dreams and checking items off their bucket lists, I am an actor and director, and I've been known to dabble in standup comedy. I also enjoy fighting for couch space with my 5-year old retired racing greyhound named Paulie Walnuts.
What type of resort activities do you favor? ie water sports, lounging by the pool, etc?
I like to mix it up when I'm at a resort. A little adventure activity interrupted by some quality beach time wrapped in never-ending cuisine never did me wrong.
What are your favorite destinations?
Choosing a favourite destination is like choosing a favourite child. Or at least I assume it would be if I had kids. Let's say it's like choosing my favourite pet, it can't be done. I've done some pretty exciting things, been to many wonderful places, and experienced many amazing cultures, it would be impossible to pick just one. I've taken a snowmobile to the top of a glacier in Iceland. I've dived The Grotto cenote in Mexico, a plane wreck in Saipan, and a shipwreck in Bermuda, to name a few. Among my 7 visits to Hawaii, I've watched the sunrise from atop the Haleakala Crater, drove the Road to Hana in a topless Jeep, snorkeled the Molokini Crater, and even attended the NFL Pro Bowl. I've had lunch at the top of the Olympic ski jump in Innsbruck, Austria, and at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. I've rafted the highest tides in the world in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia, and swam in a frigid Alaskan glacier lake. I've driven through Death Valley, and across Antarctica on a race to the South Pole. So I guess my favourite destination is the one I'm going to next.
What languages do you speak?
The only language I'm fluent in is English. However, I briefly studied German in high school and Japanese in university.
