Katerina Gilbert
An Interview With Katerina Gilbert
How many years have you been selling travel?
I was in travel many years ago while going to university and thought what a fun job! My work life took me in another direction and I worked in a corporate business environment most of my career. And now I'm excited to be returning and exploring the "fun" element of travel once again!
What are your hobbies?
I have many hobbies and interests! I love to travel (of course) I also like to golf, hike , bike and ski. I have gone to cities that offer a musical experience such as Nashville, you guessed it I am a huge country music fan! The culinary experience has also been one of my passions, I enjoy visiting local markets and places that offer farm to table options. Visiting art galleries and museums has always been on my list when I travel as it helps me explore the culture and history of the area.
What type of resort activities do you favor? ie water sports, lounging by the pool, etc?
When visiting a resort I first look for the feel of the location, it has to have great rooms, a good vibe and a large variety of restaurants. It must also offer activities like snorkeling, a nice pool area with comfortable loungers and an equally comfortable beach access. I have gone to both adults and family resorts and always do my research to make sure it provides the heartbeat I am looking for.
What are your favorite destinations?
That is so hard to pin down because every destination has been amazing, I try to immerse myself with whatever adventure the area has to offer. Whether I travelled locally or on a global scale, I find the beauty of the area and build on my experience. However, I will list some of my favorite destinations starting with Greece (I am a little bias as I come from a Greek background) Hawaii especially the island of Maui is my paradise, Vietnam and Cambodia left me with so much joy while meandering the Mekong River and discovering its people, food and culture. My adventure travel experience has included snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef in Australia to hiking the Grand Canyon to ziplining over the highest waterfall in the Big Island of Hawaii. I will always be thinking and dreaming what my next great adventure to come will be!
What languages do you speak?
I speak both English and Greek.
