Selva Verde is set in the jungle with a tree house feel ! Lovely area ! Rooms are basic but very clean with screen windows built on stilts throughout the jungle. Wake up early to take advantage of the bird watching ! Lots of birds, monkeys and butterflies ! Located on the banks of the Sarapiqui River - great rafting in this area ! Take advantage of the naturalist lectures. Beautiful learning centre that is used by various groups. Nice small pool. Meals are homemade and are excellent ! Rates include breakfast. Nice little bar at the Selva Verde. A very relaxed resort and a good place to start your trip in Costa Rica ! About 1 1/2 hours by bus from San Jose.

This is a great hotel for couple time or family time ! We visited this resort with a group of 15 and it had something for everyone ! Grounds are beautiful and the beach is fantastic - 2 km white sand ! The first week we were there the beach had good waves for body surfing (we had brought boogie boards for the kids) and the second week the water was like glass. Good snorkelling right off the beach - lots of sea life - turles,rays,puffer fish etc etc.
